General introduction of the Dept. activities

The DIC CzR – NATO RTO is executive information body within structure of management of the CzR Ministry of Defence Research, Development and Technologies.

Its mission is securing and carrying out:

• information exchange among the NATO RTO bodies and bodies of the Czech MoD Armament Management, responsible for management of Science and Defence Research and Development.
• Annotation and distribution activities connected with the NATO RTO publications providing to the subjects of Defence Research in the Czech Republic.
• Assistance activity for the benefit of the Czech National Coordinator in RTO.
• Monitoring of activities of the CzR representatives in the NATO RTO and NAFAG.

History of the DIC CzR Dept.

In April 2000, in consequence of affiliation of the Czech Republic into the NATO and within the frame of member observance, there was founded the DIC CzR – NATO RTO, as an executive body securing communication and management activities of the Czech MoD Armament Management concerning the NATO RTO.
The RTO is NATO organization for Defence Research and Technologies.

Product portfolio

• The principal task of the Dept. is distribution of the NATO information media to authorized subjects in the Czech Republic from the MoD Dept., Defence Industry and Research.
• The DIC Dept. has kept and actualizated documents relating to the RTO activities,
• has administered agenda of the RTB/RTA/IMC and the RTO panels,
• has participated in preparing and securing of panel meetings and symposia,
•  the DIC CzR Dept. representative has taken part in the IMC meetings (the IMC is support element of the RTA providing advisory service in the area of application Information Management within the RTO),
• has carried out technical securing of the DIC operation, records upgrading, administration of databases, administration of publications with different classification level both in written and electronic form,
• organizational securing of meetings of Czech representatives in the RTO.
• The DIC CzR Dept. has kept at disposal also completed database of the AGARD publications (Agency for Aeronautical Research and Development) in electronic form from 1956 to 1999 years (about 20 000 volumes).
• has registered and distributed the RTO publications, in the concrete collection of papers, engineering reports, the NATO RTO panel meetings reports, etc.

The RTO publications have been kept at disposal in electronic form and their free distribution has been carrying out by copying to CD-ROM media.
